Practice Competency Documents
Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) – formerly the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) – developed Assessing and Certifying Clinical Competency: Foundations of Clinical Practice for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology to provide a framework for training speech-language pathologists and audiologists in Canada. It has served as the basis for the SAC certification program and examinations. The 2004 Foundations document is currently under revision.
National Audiology Competency Profile
National Speech-Language Competency Profile
The Canadian Alliance of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Regulators (CAASPR) approved the National Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Competency Profiles on April 29, 2018.
The ultimate purpose of these profiles is to harmonize the registration processes of audiologists and speech-language pathologists across the regulated jurisdictions in Canada. Each competency profile provides a set of essential competencies and their related sub-competencies. These profiles detail the professional competencies required for entry-to-practice as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist in Canada.
